T-shirts are as American as a pair of blue denim. Always known as the basic part of anyones wardrobe, but when you really think about, they’re really not so basic. Tees can serve as the foundation of any great outfit without great effort. As a staple, finding the right tee to play off the “look” you’re going for can be overwhelming because of the various options out there. To help relieve some of that fashion stress, I’ve partnered with Old Navy to style 4 different pairs of t-shirts.
I love this top. Not only is it made up of the softest cotton material, the pom pom detailing along the border pretty much turned it into a total game changer. It has a little weight to it making it a slightly opaque. Paired here with distressed white jeans for a monochromatic look, this tee has literally dated so many pieces in my wardrobe from chambray shorts, linen trousers to blue denim.
Also known as a tank, the fitted tee is the perfect top because it’s so versatile. You can wear it alone like I did below, however it pairs nicely with a blazer, denim jacket, and even atop a button down for a layered look. I love that it conforms to my shape without being too clingy yet has structure to it so it isn’t flimsy. I’m busty so I have to be careful wearing fitted tanks so to not have spillage, if you know what I mean. Oppose to a solid color, I went with a ribbed version instead to bring added texture to play off my deconstructed denim skirt.
I know what you’re thinking, “right, another white tee“-um, wrong! This tee is the epitome of comfort meets style. It’s linen blend texture lends to it’s lightweight versatility allowing it to be worn tucked, loose, or knotted like I did below. I’ve worn this top with dressy midi skirts and even went the athleisure route by pairing it with leggings and sneakers. For you recent college grads out there, add a few of these pieces (come in many colors) underneath a blazer with slacks and accessories and you’ve got yourself office casual-BOOM!
I’m a sucker for graphic tees. Usually, ones with catchy or sassy phrases on them, but this time around, I went for a visual. My anchor tee paired perfectly with my stripe trousers for a day on the water. The only thing missing, literally was a sailor’s cap. Instead, I accessorized with a blue bandana. Gotta love a themed look!
Honestly, no matter what tee you aim for, it will definitely change your wardrobe. At Old Navy, they’re totally inexpensive which means you can stock up and even layer with during the colder weather months. The fabrics wash better and maintain they’re shapes which eases the need to repurchase time and time again. In fact, these t-shirts are far from basic and as you soon will find out, will be reached out for time and time again from your wardrobe. Make sure to check out The Tee Shop where you’ll find curated t-shirts for all occasions.
Tell me, which tee’s your favorite? What is your favorite way to rock a t-shirt?
