I’m always on the look out for office-appropriate ways to bring my feminine, sometimes daring style to the office. Just by perusing my blog, you’ll see that I have a love of classics and on-trend pieces and make them werk at work. I don’t believe in spending a lot on trendy items. While they’re often seasonal, they are a great way to update your 9-5 wardrobe to your favorite workweek staples. Take the pearl embellished denim trend for instance, would you believe me if I told you that I DIY’d them myself for total cost of $10?!!
I love embellishments as they’re a great way to add some pizzaz to otherwise basic or classic pieces. You can’t get anymore classic or feminine than pearls. When I began to see pearl embellished jeans, I fell in fashion love. Intiatially, I wasn’t able to find any in my size. Fast forward a few months, I found in my size but they were all distressed and deconstructed which ordinarily, I’d be fine with. However, I was looking to be able to wear them to the office and working in higher-ed, ripped jeans is a no-no. Out of frustration, I decided to just make my own pair. I headed to the thrift store, picked up a pair of cropped Loft jeans for $2, purchased gem glue and a lot of flat back pearls. Within one hour while listening to some old-school R&B, I managed to finish off my custom pair of pearl jeans.
I love blouses with feminine detailing and thought this one from Eloquii would work perfectly during a casual Friday at work. Although it’s officially fall, we’re still experiencing summer like weather so I paired the look with my Stuart Weitzman sandals.
