With Thanksgiving over, soon will begin the season of holiday parties. Ladies, this is our annual opportunity to justify an abundance of sequins, tutus and all things glam, which I will feature soon. But, I’m starting with a more simple look that is not only comfortable, but truly can be pulled off by women of all sizes-the slip dress.
Outfit
Dress: JustFab (in velvet here)|| Velvet Duster: Eileen Fisher|| Heels: Valentino Rockstuds (soldout) similar here
The slip-dress trend has been around for a few seasons, but really making its mark now. Its truly versatile in that could be worn with everything from a tshirt underneath to a turtleneck. I’ve also seen women opt for cozy over-sized sweaters on-top. For a festive spin, I wore my JustFab dress with a luxe velvet kimono duster from Eileen Fisher and my Valentino Rockstuds for some added pinache.
How can you pull this style off? I know some of you may be weary of this trend-with it looking like a nightgown and all. However, you can certainly make it work! The key is to first, find the occasion. The event will help you decide on how to wear it (paired with a shirt underneath for daytime or without for nigh-time). Secondly, you will need to choose a length suitable for your height. Since I’m short, I went for a midi-length. However, slip dresses come in mini and maxi versions, some with or without lace Third, choose the fabric. Mine is a faux silk but I’m borderline obsessed with the velvet slip dress. Lastly, choose a slip dress with adjustable straps. In my opinion, this is imperative because with that feature, you can choose just how much cleavage to show. My slip-dress has this feature at only $15!!!
