Special thanks to Target for sponsoring this post.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, if you’re anything like me, holiday gifting for everyone on your list is already on the brain. Let’s face it: The feeling of gifting a loved one something they’ll genuinely love is a feeling like no other. However, in the hustle, we often place ourselves at the bottom of the list, waiting until the holidays to simmer down before spending leftover credit from gift cards to pick out a little something nice for ourselves. Especially if you’re a mom or wife, your child and husband, take precedence over you.
This year, Target challenged me to place myself first on the list with the idea that when I treat myself first, I’d be inspired to treat others with more optimism and excitement. Of course, being the style blogger that I am, I picked some simple fashion pieces that I can totally see myself transition in many different ways this holiday. This fur snood (which comes in many colors), sweater poncho, and lipstick were my three self-gifting pieces.
Style: Casually Chic
Event: Holiday shopping
I love the simplicity of this look. Nowadays, ponchos are all the rage and come in a variety of styles. I wore this cable-knit version while down by the shore last weekend. Since the weather was gorgeous, I used it as outer-wear by layering a turtleneck underneath. The fur snood in a matching shade brought a little more chic to it. This look would easily work while Holiday shopping at the mall-you can forgo the coat and wear the poncho.
Style: Laid-Back Glam
Event: Thanksgiving dinner
Not only does this sweater poncho work on the weekend, it actually works great in the office. My style relies heavy on transitional pieces because I like my wardrobe to work year round and all week. This poncho is perfect for that. I styled it with a faux leather skirt and grey 3/4 length turtleneck underneath for added warmth. Oh, while at Target, I went ahead and I tried out this berry lippie from Maybelline which coincidentally pairs well with the look.
I encourage you guys to place yourselves first on that list. As you can see, it doesn’t mean buying a mega flat-screen TV or new tech gadget. It can be as simple as buying a new sweater, boots, or nail polish. As they say, it’s often the little things that matter. Make sure you head over to Target.com and type in “Wonderlist” in the search box. You’ll receive a curated collection of seasonal picks that are as delightful to give as they are to get. I listed a few of mine below.
