“The Big Apple” “Gotham City” “The City That Never Sleeps” -there are so many names for New York but to me, it’s home. However, it hasn’t always been. I was born in Miami, Florida and lived there during the early years of my life. Moving to New York not only shaped who I am today but also my style. Let’s face it, NEW YORK IS FASHION! This summer I’ve been lucky enough to work with Old Navy on a few projects, but this one really hits home. As part of their #50Styles50States I’m sharing how my state(s) influence my style.
Being from the Caribbean, I naturally gravitate towards color and bold prints. I like to think of it as the cross between my Florida and West Indian roots. Personally, I think it fits perfectly to New York’s melting pot of tastes, styles and people. With that being said, there’s just something about wearing all black that is quintessentially NYC-think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. So in styling my look, I went with a mix of stripes and solids in the universally flattering shade of black.
I really enjoyed sharing a little bit about myself with you all in this collab with Old Navy. It’s always fun to see how your environment can have such an impact on your style.
