We’ve all heard the saying with age comes wisdom and my testimony is that it doesn’t soley apply to personal trials and tribulations, but to shopping as well. Every year when the season changes, I look to add more and more pieces to my work wardrobe. However, the older I become, I find that when I invest in classic pieces that can be interchanged with the latest fashion trends, I get a lot more wear out of my wardrobe.
Take this silk cami for instance. It was an investment piece, but it was totally worth every penny. The younger Sandee would have never put that kind of money on a tank. Now, because I know that it can be multi-functional- can be worn under a blazer for a polished and professional look or alone with jeans for a more casual spin, it’s justifiable.
Jcrew, Jcrew Factory and Eloquii are good examples of how to stay on trend, without breaking the bank. I’m wearing all the brands below and while the skirt and top are fairly new, the jacket alone I’ve had for six years.
For those of you who to think you can’t wear color to the office, trust me, it’s totally feasible! Post college, for years, I felt like I had to wear the mundane black slacks and boring blouse to work, but we all know just because we have a regular 9-to5 job doesn’t mean that our style has to suffer.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces that can easily werk in every work environment
