Special thanks to Riders by Lee for sponsoring this post
So we’re officially done with the first month of the New Year. How has it been so far? For me, I can’t complain too much. I’m still on break from school, which means no classes for me yet (woo-hoo)! With the free time that I rarely get, I’ve managed to knock out a few items off my January to-do list. I’m nearly done with my third book for the year and I’ve added kickboxing to my workouts.
As you all know, I work in higher-education which doesn’t give me the luxury of being able to keep it casual very often, but during this past student free month, I’ve managed to sneak in a few denim work looks. Since I had no committee meetings or student appointments, my Riders by Lee jeans have made quite a number of appearances in January. They fit so nicely and come in various shades, I last wore the lighter blue shade here. The years of buying expensive jeans with hopes of a better fit, are GONE ladies! The construction of my mid-rise denim bottoms, I find, particularly fit curves really well.
So what’s the key to wearing jeans at work without looking super casual? Let’s begin:
- Always pair with a dressy top or blouse or add a textured piece. Here, I paired a basic turtleneck with a velvet jacket.
- Opt for heels, whether pumps or boots. I went with suede pumps in a bright shade for a little pizzazz.
- Accessorize. You can go about that with jewelry or hats and scarves. In this look, I added a wool beret.
- Go for dark denim shades. They easily can mimic pants.
Ultimately, you don’t want to look like you’re on your way out to run errands. Of course, your workplace dress code will have a say in you getting away with wearing jeans.
I hope I was able to provide you all with some denim inspiration for the office. Riders By Lee has a great assortment of denim bottoms from skinny to boot-cut. Visit your local Walmart or shop online for yours. Find the nearest store near you here.
