I came across a pair of wide leg sequin pants during after Christmas sale, for a steal! Have you ever come fell head over heels over a piece so outside your comfort zone, but you can’t help but keep coming back to it? Well, this was my feeling on these sequin trousers. Being the avid online shopper that I am, I had them in my cart for weeks before finally taking the plunge. So today, I’m sharing how I wear sequins pants without looking overdressed.
Now I’m a firm believer of wearing the clothes and not having the clothes wear you, but these trousers wanted to be seen. Paired with my velvet blazer last worn here, and black bodysuit, I was ready for a much needed night out.
Sequins most certainly are not pinned to just holidays. They can be worn year round. To tone down the dressy aspect of it, I recommend going basic as possible on top. Think, white t-shirt or graphic tee. In the spring, a tank top and denim jacket paired with a pair of Converse or Adidas sneakers would look adorable. These particular pants have some weight to them, so I wouldn’t recommend wearing them during warmer weather, otherwise you’d have an inferno in your pants. Aside from being wide leg, and not super fitted, it allows the aesthetic to be a little more dressed-up. The high-waist detailing definitely helps in bringing the eye upwards towards the smaller part of my torso. Oh, and I definitely must add that these pants are loooooong! I’m 5’4 and I wore 4.5″ heels with these and they’re still pooling on the ground. So, with that being said, you 5’5″ and below ladies out there, will certainly need to have these hemmed.
