What started as a trend last season has made leather on it’s way into becoming a closet staple. Leather pieces are available in a variety of categories: skirts, leggings, trousers, even dresses. As a stylish career woman, I find myself constantly trying to impose the latest trends into my work wardrobe. Leather, obviously, had to take part during this current winter season and soon approaching spring. So here’s my fresh take on how to get away with wearing leather in the workplace.

Leather for years have had fetish connotations to it but nowadays, not only can it be seen as luxe, but it’s a great way to keep your wardrobe fresh. Hesitant? Start with faux (vegan) leather pieces in the form uber sleek separates like gloves, hats, and my staple, pencil skirts. The key to making it work-appropo is is to style it properly.
Take this look here, I went with a super feminine button down trench leather dress and instead of going with black, I chose a camel shade. I paired it with suede chocolate knee-high slouchy boots and went neutral with the makeup. This can totally work in a non-conservative workplace.
TIP: For colder temps, I recommend adding a thin turtleneck underneath. Not only does it provide warmth, but in a lighter shade of brown or cream, it’s a great way to add texture.

If you weren’t a believer before, I hope you are now. Leather can definitely werk in the workplace. I’ve listed similar links to this dress as well as other leather pieces guaranteed to spruce up your spring.
Take a look!
