I know it’s been about a month since I posted. So much has been happening for me. I resigned from my position at a University after three years for an opportunity to lead a department at another institution. This career advancement comes with more responsibility, a better university culture (I’ll talk about that at a later post) and more formal dress code. With that being said, I’ve been having fun finding ways to be polished and edgy. It was definitely time to update my wardrobe with a bold print suit this fall!! Nothing I hate more than the mundane grey or black suit and bland white button down. In true Curvenvy style, I’ve been playing with pattern and color, like I always have, but in a more professional way.

How awesome is this skirt suit?! Ugh, it was love at first sight with the trendy houndstooth pattern and then add bold gold buttons and I was smitten. I particularly loved the middle slit that is replicated in the back of the skirt as well. I paired it with a cream colored satin cowl neck camisole but I can easily see it with a turtleneck in the winter months and knee high boots. This suit really is transitional which I always aim for. The other edgy piece of this suit is the cropped jacket. Typically, suit blazers are longer and hit your hip. For us full-figured women, I like that this one shows off our curves a little without being overtly provocative. This is thee PERFECT suit. I highly recommend you ladies get you this suit. If the skirt isn’t your thing, the same pattern is offered in a crop trouser too.
What are your thoughts on this modern take of the skirt suit?
