This time of year, I love looking at festival pics from various concerts and events throughout the States on Instagram. As much as I can appreciate the music, I’m really there to look at all the bohemian festival fashions. I’ve become quite obsessive over details like macrame, pastel colors, fringes and countless others. Living in NYC, music festivals don’t really appear until the summer. However, I’ve been able to play around with some festival-fresh pieces from Target. I always like to switch things up and make pieces work for me-in real life. For 40 hours a week, I’m dressed business casual for the office so it’s important for me to buy pieces that I can ultimately transition from day to night and/or weekday to weekend.
I picked a few pieces from various Target brands and challenged myself to make it work for me in real life without any festivals to go to. For my Festival Gone Decorated look, I picked a beautiful dress with both flower embroidery and crochet detailing that screams Woodstock to me. Wearing this dress, I honestly pictured myself with a make-shift sunflower crown skipping in a pasture somewhere, as opposed to my reality of the concrete jungle. Nonetheless, I paired it with whimsical sandals for a laid-back casual take on festival bohemian fashion.
For my Festival Gone Moody look, I went with black and colorful tans. I’m a huge fan of bodysuits and just had to add this off the shoulder ribbed version to my wardrobe. I initially picked up these gauze flare pants to pair them with, but while walking towards the cash register at Target, saw these whimsical shorts that I immediately knew would make an adorable pairing. While I can’t necessarily wear shorts to work, I can certainly appreciate how transitional these shorts could be, whether I wear flat sandals with them or stilettos like I did below.
