Today, May 18th, is Haitian Flag Day. For those of you unaware, Haiti is located on the island of Hispaniola which it shares with the Dominican Republic. Our national language is creole-which is heavily French influenced. Haiti was the first independent nation thanks to the revolt of it’s slaves against the British, French and Spaniard. Haiti is the only nation in the world established as a result of a successful slave revolt. Between the culture, food and strength, I wouldn’t change my heritage for anything in the world. I am so excited about finally making my mission to visit Haiti happen this year. A few months back, I broke down all the best resorts and hotels in this post. I also included all the activities one can do in Haiti so make sure you check it out. Below, in collaboration with 2 other Haitian bloggers, I am sharing a blue, red, white and gold look representing blood, victory and richness of the Haitian culture.
The past few decades, Haiti has perished under military rule and natural disasters. My wish is that one day, peace can be reinstated along with the proper president to uplift the the people and finances Haiti so desperately needs. One route to do so is to help build the tourism. I am playing my part by documentaring my trip through videos and posts on all my social media accounts in hopes of pushing this agenda forward. I’d love if you all join me on that journey.
