This past Saturday, I attended my company’s annual black tie gala. Many of you who either work in higher-education or are students in grad school, law school or medical school might have these functions and know exactly what I’m referring to. Like clockwork, every year, I wait til last minute to purchase a gown that ends up hanging in my closet after one wear. It was either that or go the route many of my colleagues have gone: buy it, wear it, than return it. I never went that way, mainly because of the high uncertainty of actually getting refunded. Needless to say, Ebay had become my outlet to reselling my ‘used’ gowns until I discovered Rent the Runway.
Rent the Runway allows you to rent high-end garments and accessories for a fraction of the price. Ever dreamed of wearing a Valentino, Carolina Herrera, or Badgley Mischka gown? Well that dream can easily become a reality with RTR. The BEST part about it is, they provide plus size options in many of these higher end gowns as well.
With so many options and designers available to me, it was pretty hard to choose which gown I wanted to go with. I knew I wanted it to be a showstopper, but which showstopper. I ultimately, narrowed it down to two sequins beauties by Badlgey Mischka- the Sound The Alarm and the Rolling in the Glitz. Scroll down to see which I picked!

This gown had me feeling like the belle of the ball. The rose gold shade went perfectly with my brown skin tone. Also, the rusching and halter top was very flattering to my frame. Because formal gowns sizing are different to street sizes, Rent the Runway allows you to choose the gown of your choice in 2 sizes. You’re able to schedule your rental months in advance as well as same week (if the gown is available). I ordered my gown online on Tuesday and received it Thursday! Fortunately for me, there is a RTR boutique in town so I was able to return it directly. However, they do provide UPS prepaid packaging that can easily be dropped off.
Aside from the formal events (prom, weddings, etc), RTR dresses are ideal for a special date, meeting, holiday, etc and allows you save money at that. Whatever the occasion, Rent the Runway has spectacular styles in every color, size, length, and fit you can imagine. And don’t forget, if you’re a new customer, you will get $25 off your first order of $75+ when you use code: 25OFFNEW.
